1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of directmcle.com and the Direct MCLE course platform (the "Service"). By creating an account, buying a course or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy are part of these terms.
2. Who may use the Service
The Service is for attorneys age 18 or older. You must give accurate information when you register, including your name, jurisdiction and bar number, because they appear on your certificate and in the records we keep. Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account, and each account may be used only by the person it was created for.
3. Courses and MCLE credit
Our courses are approved for California MCLE credit by the State Bar of California under Provider No. 21040 (Margaret Leslie Davis). The credit hours and subject area for each course are stated on its page and on your certificate. A course can earn credit only while it is State Bar-approved. Our current course is approved from October 15, 2026 through October 14, 2028.
You are responsible for tracking your own MCLE compliance and for reporting your credit to the State Bar as it requires. We provide a certificate to support your records, but we do not guarantee that any particular licensing authority will accept credit, and we do not give advice about your compliance obligations.
4. Earning credit: completion rules
Credit is awarded only when you personally watch the full course. We check progress on our servers. Fast-forwarding, skipping, running scripts or browser extensions that alter playback, or letting someone else watch for you will not earn credit. You must also respond to the attention checks that appear during the course. If we find that credit was obtained improperly, we may void it, revoke your access without a refund, and, where the State Bar's rules require, report it.
Course materials, such as the study guide and audio overview, are provided with the course. We will keep your materials available for at least 30 days after you complete the course.
5. Prices and payment
Prices are shown before you buy. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller of record and may add applicable taxes. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
6. License and intellectual property
The courses, videos, study guides, audio overviews and site content belong to Direct MCLE and its instructor, and are protected by copyright. While your account is active we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to view the courses and use the materials for your own professional education. You may not copy, record, redistribute, resell, publicly post or share them, or share your access with anyone else.
Direct MCLE is an independent company. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google. Gemini Notebook and other product names mentioned in our courses belong to their owners.
7. Education, not legal advice
Our courses are continuing education. They are not legal advice, and taking one does not create an attorney-client relationship. AI tools and the rules that apply to them change quickly. You remain responsible for your own professional judgment, for verifying the output of any AI tool, and for meeting your duties of competence and confidentiality.
8. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the Service. That includes trying to bypass progress tracking or security measures, probing or disrupting our systems, using someone else's account, or using the Service unlawfully. We may suspend or end access for violations.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Direct MCLE will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the course the claim concerns. Some laws do not allow certain limits, so these may not apply to you in full.
11. Ending your access
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as those on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law, will continue after your access ends. Compliance records are retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and Direct MCLE consent to their jurisdiction.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. We will notify account holders by email of material changes.
